Securing our Community: Introducing the New RFID Card Entry System

We at Bear Valley Community Services District (CSD) have always prioritized the safety and security of our community. With technology becoming increasingly integral to our daily lives, we have decided to use it to further secure our neighborhood. Starting August 1, 2023, we are introducing a new RFID card entry system in the visitor lane. This upgrade will replace the previous windshield decals that had a number of security weaknesses.

Meet the 'Black Box': your key to seamless access. Hold your RFID card in front of the box to activate the automatic gate. Secure and convenient entry is now at your fingertips!

The new system entails using the RFID-enabled amenity cards issued by the Bear Valley Springs Association (BVSA). A new scanner, which we've been referring to as the 'black box', has been installed in the visitor lane to read these cards. We encourage all residents who have not obtained these cards yet to visit the BVSA to secure one at the earliest.

We want to assure our residents that the resident-only lane will continue to function as it always has, using the RFID stickers for automated entry. This new system is only for the visitor lane and does not mean the RFID stickers are being discontinued. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate your understanding as we implement this necessary change.

August 1, 2023, marks a key date in this transition. After this date, windshield decals and non-RFID amenity cards will no longer be valid for entry. This will ensure that only current residents and authorized visitors have access to our amenities, preventing any unauthorized access.

We are confident that this upgrade will contribute significantly to the safety of our community, and we appreciate your support during this transition. We'll keep you updated on any further developments and, as always, are here to answer any questions you might have.
